Additionally, when Twitter outgrew Ruby on Rails, the company shined a spotlight on scalable Scala as a more efficient and cost-effective alternative. Finally, when Apple moved away from Objective-C to Swift, developers had to switch too. With iOS development becoming more streamlined and increasingly accessible, it’s clear many developers don’t want to be left behind.

Developer Tools at Work

Python is the one

JavaScript may be the most in-demand language by employers, but Python wins the heart of developers across all ages, according to our Love-Hate index. Python is also the most popular language that developers want to learn overall, and a significant share already knows it.

Which languages do developers prefer by age?

Python is known for its simplicity, readability, and vast possibilities of scientific libraries. It’s also growing as part of introductory computer science courses. There is an unusual generational trend among newer languages: Younger developers dislike newer languages (like Go, Kotlin, and Scala) more so than older developers. In fact, Go creates one of the greatest divides. Developers aged 18-24 don’t care for it, but 45-54 year-olds consider it one of their most loved languages. The inverse is true about JavaScript.

This is interesting, since many of the newer languages, including Go, embody learnings from older languages. One of Go’s primary designers created C decades ago. There’s an innate thirst for knowledge among younger developers. They are more likely to learn languages across the board — even those that they dislike — than older developers. The latter would choose their pursuit more selectively, based on their experience and what they think will stand the test of time.

Node.js is the newest jam

Which frameworks do developers prefer by age?

Node.js wins as most loved framework by the largest share of developers. As the only method for backend JavaScript, Node.js is favored across all ages. As for front-end frameworks, we all know that AngularJS and React are in vogue. But it turns out this love is most common among younger generations.

Developers between 45-54 years old ranked AngularJS and React much lower. On the other hand, the exact inverse is true about Vue.js. It’s not immediately clear why this is true. We’d love to learn thoughts from Vue.js developers on the differences in age /r/programming .

Talent Attraction

Assessing skills proves to be the biggest hiring challenge, more than talent shortage

What’s the biggest challenge when hiring talent?

Which assessment tools do employers use most?

According to 7,000+ employers, resumes are still by far the most common way developers are assessed today. Our survey found that 81% of hiring managers use resumes as the first step in the applicant screening process. When asked what the biggest hiring challenge is, the same hiring managers said assessing skill is their number one problem — as opposed to lack of talent. Meanwhile, only 55% of developers said resumes were a good reflection of their abilities.

The progestogen is injected into a muscle or under the skin and then is gradually released into the bloodstream. It works mainly by stopping the release of the egg from the ovary (ovulation). It also thickens the mucus made by the neck of the womb (cervix) which forms a mucous plug. This stops sperm getting through to the womb (uterus) to fertilise an egg. It also makes the lining of the womb thinner. This makes it unlikely that any egg that has managed to be fertilised will be able to implant in the womb.

Dr Rosemary Leonard

It is very effective. Between 2-60 women in every 1,000 using it will become pregnant after two years. Compare this to when no contraception is used: more than 800 in 1,000 sexually active women who do not use contraception become pregnant within one year.

Some women find that having unpredictable or irregular periods can be a nuisance. However, if you do develop irregular bleeding while receiving the injection then you should inform your doctor or nurse. You may be able to have your next injection early or be given other treatment to stop the bleeding. Irregular bleeding can sometimes be due to another reason, such as an infection. This may need to be treated.

Apart from changes to periods, side-effects are uncommon. If one or more should occur, they often settle down over a couple of months or so. One possible side-effect is weight gain. This seems to be a particular problem for young women (under 18 years) who are already overweight when they start the injection. Some women also report fluid retention, worsening acne, headaches and breast discomfort. However, there is little evidence to say that the injection causes these symptoms.

The most common reason for women to stop having the injections is because of irregular bleeding.

The injection can lead to some 'thinning' of the bones. This does not usually cause any problems and the bones go back to normal when the injections are stopped. Using injectable contraception for many years might lead to more bone thinning. It is therefore recommended that you have a review every two years with your doctor or nurse. They will discuss if this method is still the best one for you.

Very occasionally, the injection can cause some pain or swelling at the site where the injection was given, particularly with Sayana Press®. You should see your doctor or nurse if you have any signs or symptoms of infection at the site of injection (for example, redness or swelling).

Most women can have the contraceptive injection. Your doctor or family planning nurse will discuss any current and past illnesses. For example, you should not have it if you have recently had breast cancer or have Nike Mens Roshe One Print DARING RED/BLACKGYM REDTEAM RED 7 M US clearance brand new unisex free shipping finishline store cheap price tMvjzQ

If you have risk factors for 'thinning' of the bones (osteoporosis) then it is normally advisable to use another method of contraception. Examples of risk factors include:

Unicode::Normalize - Unicode Normalization Forms

(1) using function names exported by default:

(2) using function names exported on request:

Parameters:

$string is used as a string under character semantics (see perlunicode ).

$code_point should be an unsigned integer representing a Unicode code point.

Note: Between XSUB and pure Perl, there is an incompatibility about the interpretation of $code_point as a decimal number. XSUB converts $code_point to an unsigned integer, but pure Perl does not. Do not use a floating point nor a negative sign in $code_point .

Normalization Forms

It returns the Normalization Form D (formed by canonical decomposition).

It returns the Normalization Form C (formed by canonical decomposition followed by canonical composition).

It returns the Normalization Form KD (formed by compatibility decomposition).

It returns the Normalization Form KC (formed by compatibility decomposition followed by canonical composition).

If the given string is in FCD ("Fast C or D" form; cf. UTN #5), it returns the string without modification; otherwise it returns an FCD string.

Note: FCD is not always unique, then plural forms may be equivalent each other. FCD ( ) will return one of these equivalent forms.

It returns the FCC form ("Fast C Contiguous"; cf. UTN #5).

Note: FCC is unique, as well as four normalization forms (NF*).

It returns the normalization form of $form_name .

As $form_name , one of the following names must be given.

It returns the concatenation of the decomposition of each character in the string.

If the second parameter (a boolean) is omitted or false, the decomposition is canonical decomposition; if the second parameter (a boolean) is true, the decomposition is compatibility decomposition.

The string returned is not always in NFD/NFKD. Reordering may be required.

It returns the result of reordering the combining characters according to Canonical Ordering Behavior.
